Sometimes magnet designers suffer the Goldilocks effect: Some magnet grades are too strong, some are too weak. Some applications require a magnet that is ‘just right’. While every magnet family is comprised of dozens of sub-grades with a plethora of choices, there are applications require something in between the existing offerings. This talk will discuss the techniques used to alter the magnetic output of magnets and magnetic assemblies including magnetic, thermal & shunting. The pros and cons of each will be evaluated.
