The Magnetics Bootcamp focuses on teaching you the basics of magnetics with an emphasis on permanent magnets. If you need to understand magnets better for your job, want to understand the conference presentations, or are new to the field, the Magnetics Bootcamp is the perfect place to start. It assumes that one has little or no background in magnetics. The Bootcamp will cover all the essential fundamental magnetic concepts such as hysteresis, the nature of magnetism, units, magnet processing, thermal effects, magnetizing, self-demagnetization, measurements and case studies.
*Registration to the conference is mandatory to attend a workshop; workshops can be selected during the conference registration process.*
Stan’s professional life, just over forty years, has been almost evenly divided between the permanent magnet and rare earth industries. For the last sixteen years, he has run a consultancy called Spontaneous Materials, serving clients in these industries on a wide variety of technical and commercial projects. His previous employers include Molycorp, Magnequench, Hitachi Magnetics, Crucible Magnetics and Recoma. Dr. Trout is a registered professional engineer, in Pennsylvania and Colorado, holds a B. S. in Physics from Lafayette College and a Ph.D. from the University of Pennsylvania in Metallurgy and Materials Science. He is a member of the MCMA, the UK Magnetics Society and a life senior member of the IEEE Magnetics Society.
