Dr. David Parker is the Lead of the “Developing Substitutes” Focus Area of the U.S. DOE-funded Critical Materials Innovation Hub. He is a Distinguished Scientist at Oak Ridge National Laboratory, where he has worked for over 14 years, beginning in 2010, following postdoctoral work at the Naval Research Laboratory and a Ph.D. in Physics from the Univ. of Southern California in 2006. He applies first principles methods to some of the most difficult challenges in materials for energy applications, including magnets, thermoelectrics, ferroelectrics and superconductors.
